Nominate a colleague for a Halifax City Local NSTU Shout-Out!:  City Shout-Out Nomination

African Nova Scotian and Indigenous Members: Register to vote for the Provincial Executive Elections. Only those registered who self-identify will be eleigible to vote- Elections

The HRCE and the NSTU are collaborating to deliver a 1-hour virtual session for substitute and term teachers on Wednesday, April 29th at 4pm when we will answer the following questions including:

    • What is teacher status?
    • How do I determine my status?
    • What choices could impact my status?

  • April 13th: Register to VOTE-African Nova Scotian and Indigenous NSTU members who want to vote for the new Provincial Executive positions representing these voices must register by April 13.
    Only members who complete the registration process will be eligible to vote on April 15. Register here: REGISTER TO VOTE
  • April 15th: Halifax City Local elects a new Provincial Executive member: Candidates-Lindsay Maclellan, Sunita Pinet, Amanda Stockley
  • April 15th: African Nova Scotian members elect a Provincial Executive Member: Candidates-Malik Adams or Anisley Bravo Calderin
  • April 15th: Indigenous Members elect a Provincial Executive member: Candidates- Francine Fleming or Tania Gould
  • April 22nd: Halifax City Local Meeting at 4:30 p.m. the NSTU building on Joseph Howe. All members welcome. There will be a JOHSC presentation by Executive Staff Officer Jack MacLeod and a vote on a proposed change to our local constitution

**April 1st: Gil Oickle Bursary Link Opens for Halifax City NSTU. The form opens April 1st and closes on May 31st : Halifax City Local (Gil Oickle) Student Educational Awards

  • April 28, 2026 6 p.m.: Term teacher contract and benefits seminar on Zoom (email economicwelfaresessions@gmail.com to register)
  • April 30: 4 p.m. Article 60 Course Grant Application Deadline Article 60 guidelines
  • May 1-3: Annual Council is held at the Westin. Members may attend to observe (bring NSTU ID). 
  • May 5, 2026 6 p.m.: Pensions 101 seminar on Zoom (email economicwelfaresessions@gmail.com to register put topic in the subject line)
  • May 28, 2026: Rep Appreciation Night Silva boat ride
  • June 3rd, 2026 4:30 p.m. Halifax City Local AGM
  • June 12, 2026: Retirement Dinner
